The ace filmmaker Singeetham Srinivasa Rao who has directed national awarded films like Pushpak (1988), Appu Raja (1989) and Aditya 369 (1991) is all set to direct a foremost film on the life of Jesus Christ that too not in single language but in multiple languages including Hindi, English, Telugu and Malayalam.
The film will be produced by Konda Krishnam Raju who produced Telugu hits such as Vijayendra Varma (2004) and Sri Ramadasu (2006). The movie would depict the story of Jesus Christ from his birth, till his death and resurrection at the age of 33.
The film was inaugurated on Tuesday at Olive Hill, Jerusalem.
Talking about the film producer Raju said, “This is the first time in the 79-year history of the Bollywood film industry that a film on Jesus Christ is being made. Our dream is finally coming true.”
The film will be shot in India and Israel. It is interesting to know that all the characters in the film would be played by children between the ages of 10 to 14. Christien Tinsley who recently did make up in PAA(2009) has been appointed for the film.
Raju added, “In all the four versions there are going to be two roles played by two adults – a male and a female. South superstar Pawan Kalyan will play the male role in the Telugu and Malayalam versions. We will disclose the female actor’s name after we are back to India on September 10.”
The filmmaker refuses to disclose the cast of the film but said, “We have signed two big Bollywood names for the male and female adult roles in the Hindi and English versions, which will be announced soon.”
Another interesting fact about the film is its musical tracks which would be 7 in number that is too rare to expect from a film based on Christ.
The movie is slated to hit the theatres globally in the second half of 2011.
