Cricket legends India’s Kapil Dev, West Indies’ Vivian Richards, Pakistan’s Imran Khan and Sri Lanka’s Arjuna Ranatunga with ESPN Star presenter Alan Wilkins (C) during the unveiling of new initiatives and grand plans by ESPN Star Sports for the forthcoming ICC Cricket World Cup 2011 tournament in New Delhi on Thursday.
At 37, Sachin Tendulkar is definitely at the twilight of his career but the former India captain Kapil Dev thinks otherwise as he feels the champion batsman will carry on to play another World Cup unless India lay its hands on next year’s quadrennial event.
Kapil, India’s only World Cup winning skipper, said that if not for injury, Tendulkar will be a great asset to the Indian team in the mega-event.
‘I feel talking about Sachin (Tendulkar) is an insult to him. He is such an important personal not only for India but for the world cricket. His performance gives strength to the team. He brings in abundance of experience in the team,’ Kapil said during a promotional event for the 2011 World Cup on Thursday (09-Dec-2010).
Sehwag most destructive
He was regarded as the world’s most destructive batsman in his heydays but legendary West Indian Sir Vivian Richards feels Virender Sehwag holds that reputation in modern cricket and India’s chances in the 2011 World Cup will largely depend on the right-hander’s form.
Here for a promotional event for next year’s World Cup, Richards was asked who he considers the most dangerous batsman in present day cricket and the former West Indies captain had no hesitation in naming the dashing Indian opener.
