Year 2010 for Tamil Nadu will be a Memorable Year, since major events where held which includes World Classical Tamil Conference-Coimbatore, New Secretariat Building – Chennai, 1000th Anniversary of the Thanjavur Peria Kovil, 175th Anniversary of the Madras Medical College ,Housing Scheme, Facelift towards Infrastructure, Chennai Metro Rail Project, Education schemes, Employment etc., where the list is a big one.

Year 2010 started with free Distribution of dhotis and sarees.
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Dr. Kalaignar M Karunanidhi inaugurated Rs.256-crore scheme of distribution of dhotis and sarees free to people below the poverty line (BPL).

An aluminium die-casting factory set up by Ashley Alteams India Private Limited (AAIPL), a joint venture between Ashok Leyland and Alteams OY of Finland in the Cheyyar Special Economic Zone.
