Tamil Nadu state government decided last year to honor eminent personalities in the fields of dance, drama and music with awards every year.
Music maestro Ilayaraja was on Monday named as the recipient of the prestigious MS Subbulakshmi award. Noted novelist Jayakanthan has been selected for the Bharathi award and danseuse Padma Subramaniam will be honored with the Bala Saraswati award. A cash prize of 1 lakh and a memento will be awarded to the winners of the award, the state government has announced.

One of the most awaited biggest events, ICC Cricket World Cup 2011 is to commence on February19, 2011. India’s 2011 World Cup team has been announced by K.Srikanth with 5 member selection panel on Monday. The Indian squad for 2011 World Cup Cricket consists of 15 members with Dhoni as the captain.
There was some uncertainty over Sachin Tendulkar’s availability, after he got hamstring injury during second match against South Africa and came back to India. But sources said that the injury is not serious and Tendulkar will be making his sixth World Cup appearance for sure.
