After Swift and swift desire, Maruti Suzuki, a world class renowned car maker is all set to launch the updated version of New Swift 2011.
As far as the looks of the car is concerned, it is quite captivating and trendy. It operates on different types of engines with varying capacity of 1.2 litre and 1.4 litre direct injected petrol engine to a 1.5 litre K Series petrol engine. It has a very enticing interior and a keyless ignition too.
2011 swift is accessorised with a built in retractable screen, automatic climate control, Bluetooth, a smoother dash and a USB port.
The two models of the car i.e. 1.2-litre WT petrol engine model, and a 1.3-liter DDIS diesel model will be introduced in a special launch event. The engine annihilates only 14.6 litres per 100 km that is 17% better than the older version.
The range of the car has added a new 1.2-litre petrol engine incorporating Dual VVT which expands 69kW at 6,000rpm and peak torque of 118Nm slightly over the outgoing 1.3-litre unit mated to either a manual or optional automatic transmission. This engine consumes just 4.16-litres per 100km on the combined cycle with CO2 emissions of 116g/km as well as with a manual transmission which are representing a 17 per cent improvement over the old 1.3-litre unit.
In meantime in early 2011, a 1.3-litre diesel power plant will also be available for the Swift’s launch. It shows off an impressive combined fuel consumption figure of 3.5-litres per 100km.

Gautham Menon’s thriller Nadunisi Naigal (Midnight Dogs) is almost ready. The film has new boy Veera, Gautham’s long-time assistant, and Sameera Reddy in the lead.
The film is said to be a 100-minute psychological thriller, made like a Hollywood whodunit. For the first time, Gautham will not have any songs in his film! The buzz is that he may not even have the mandatory background music in Nadunisi Naigal.
Nadunisi Naigal is reportedly about obsessive love and the violence associated with it. Gautham is planning to have only a limited release of the film, which is said to be a ‘new age film for multiplex audiences’. Nadunisi Naigal will release soon.
Gautham Menon, known for his pure, innovative Tamil titles like Khakka Khakka Pachakili Muthucharam, Vaaranam Aayiram, Vinnayithandi Varuvaaya, chose the title Nadunisi Naigal because, according to the story, the name should also sound different and evoke curiosity among his fans.
One of the highlights of Nadunisi Naigal will be Manoj Paramahama’s cinematography.

Prime Minister of India Manmohan Singh gets the World Statesman Award 2010 by the Appeal of Conscience Foundation on Tuesday in US.
This foundation is an interfaith coalition which promotes mutual understanding, tolerance and peace.
India’s Ambassador to the US, Meera Shankar, accepted the award on behalf of the Prime Minister.
In his recorded acceptance speech, Manmohan Singh said, “India has been guided since ancient times by the fundamental belief that while spiritual expression takes many forms and the journey for universal truth takes many paths, we are all united by our highest values, ideals and our inherent humanism.”
The former US Secretary of State Henry Kissinger described Manmohan Singh as a statesman with vision, persistence and integrity, and praised him for his leadership, which has been instrumental in the economic transformation underway in India.
Accepting the award on behalf of the Prime Minister Shankar thanked Rabbi Schneier, President of the Appeal of Conscience said, “More than at any other time in human history is critical for the future peace and prosperity of our world, which has become far more integrated and interdependent.”
She added, “In honouring Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh, the Appeal of Conscience Foundation has honoured a leader of extraordinary statesmanship, vision and intellect who is guiding the destiny of the world’s largest democracy.”
Conveying the greetings of the US Government, Under Secretary of State William Burns said: “There could truly be no better choice, and no better model of what integrity and statesmanship are all about on the world stage. A man of even temperament, and remarkable modesty and humility, Prime Minister Singh has demonstrated clear vision and steely determination as a leader, bringing great benefit to India and to the rest of the world.”
