Maruti Suzuki today launched the much awaited SX4 diesel in a price range of Rs 7.74 – 8.62 lakhs, its fourth diesel car . The car will be powered by a Super Turbo DDiS engine displacing 1.3 litres and churning out 90PS and a torque of 200Nm @ 1750 rpm. The car will be offered in three variants – Vdi, ZDi and ZDi with leather upholstery.
The engine is equipped with a variable geometry turbocharger (VGT), which helps in providing better performance and efficiency along with lesser turbo lag. In order to deal with the additional diesel vibrations the car has been provided with better NVH suppressants.
The suspension and brakes too have been reworked to deal with the extra weight and its distribution. 0-100 km/hr is claimed to be achieved in 14.5 seconds along with a linear acceleration curve.
The SX4 diesel is the first car in India to receive ‘OBD-2’ compliant certification, which informs the driver of any malfunction in the emission control system due to increased emission levels. The addition of a diesel powertrain has also made the car the country’s first to have a petrol, CNG and diesel variant.
Fuel efficiency is rated at 21.5 kmpl, certified as per CMVR rules. The engine will be manufactured at Suzuki Powertrain India Limited, the Manesar-based joint venture of Suzuki Motor Corporation, Japan and Maruti Suzuki India Limited. Prices for the variants are mentioned below.

Madhuri Dixit rejects to star opposite Rajinikanth
When all heroines who matter in the country today are waiting for a call to feature as Rajinikanth’s pair in ‘Rana’, the Bollywood yester year heartthrob Madhuri Dixit has reportedly refused the offer to star as one of the Rajini’s pair in the upcoming film.
Rajinikanth plays three characters belonging to three different generations in the film. Current national sensation Deepika Padukone has already been signed to play the romantic pair to the youngest Rajini in the film.
But to play Jodi to one of the older characters Madhuri Dixit was approached and buzz is that the lady declined the offer on personal grounds. Apparently Madhuri turned down the request saying that she misses her children too much and wanted to fly back to the United States at the earliest.
Madhuri Dixit had paired with the super star before in a 1987 Bollywood film called ‘Uttar Dakshin’. For the other Rajini, the names of Trisha Krishnan and Anushka are being considered according to grapevine.
