Maruti Suzuki A Star
India’s largest carmaker Maruti Suzuki has unveiled its latest A-Star Automatic in India that boasts off with modern 4-Speed Automatic transmission.
Maruti A-Star utilizes slot shift mechanism for its transmission with 6 modes P, R, N, D, 3, 2 and L. It has ARAI rated fuel efficiency of 17 kmpl.
Maruti A Star automatic comes in the VXi trim including power windows, CD/MP3 player as standard apart from the Automatic and height adjustable driver seat. It features small footprint along with light control and power steering that makes it the best choice for women.
A-Star Automatic is available at the cost of Rs.4.34 Lakhs.
The new A-Star will be the second model from MSI’s stable after SX4 to have the AT variant. The SX4 AT variant is priced at Rs 8.33 lakh, compared to the normal version tagged between Rs 6.91 lakh and Rs 7.67 lakh (ex-Showroom Delhi).
At present, SX4 AT sells about 6-8 per cent of the total of about 2,000 units per month clocked by the sedan.
Launched in November 2008, the A-Star has so far sold around 85,000 units, Srivastava said, however, adding it will be too early to ascertain how much increase in sales could be expected after the launch of the AT variant.

Singapore 2010 Youth Olympics
On Saturday (14th August 2010), Singapore welcomed young athletes from around the world in a ceremony opening the inaugural Youth Olympic Games. This is the first ever Summer Youth Olympics, an event designed to be celebrated in the same tradition of the Olympic Games – the major difference being that the competitors are all between 14 and 18 years of age. This year, 3,500 athletes from more than 200 countries are competing in 184 events in 26 sports.

Notion Ink Adam tablet
Notion Ink has announced to unveil Android powered tablet-Adam by end of the year. Rohan Shravan, founder of Bangalore-based Notion Ink quoted in a blog entry that the company would submit the device to the U.S. Federal Communications Commission for certification by the second week of November.
The Notion Ink declares that the gadget will be available in four variants where 2 variants will have the Pixel Qi Display while the other two variants will have a standard LCD display. All the 4 variants have Wi-Fi-only or Wi-Fi and 3G trim that range from $399 to $498.
The Adam tablet is equipped with advanced hardware, including Pixel Qi’s transflective display and Nvidia’s fast Tegra 2 chip. The Pixel Qi display has the capability to absorb ambient light to brighten screens leading to reduction in power consumption. The Tegra 2 chip gives the tablet the capability to play back full 1080p high-definition video.
