Ra.One is an upcoming Hindi science-fiction superhero film directed by Anubhav Sinha. The film, which features Shahrukh Khan, Kareena Kapoor and Arjun Rampal, will be produced under Khan’s production company, Red Chillies Entertainment. According to Khan, “Ra.One” means “Random Access – Version 1.0”. The film’s original score is composed by German musician Hans Zimmer

Ra.One may hit the screens in the second half of 2011.

This film will reportedly have good stunts from Shahrukh Khan. The special effects team is being hired from Hollywood. Khan has already started working out to prepare himself to be able to perform the those stunts for the film.

Shahrukh recently tweeted about the film’s action sequence ‘Huge blue screen…100 cars… cranes wires… gawd I am making a film beyond my means. Will be dancing on the streets to pay for all this. (sic)’

The shooting was originally supposed to begin in Miami, USA, but due to budget concerns this was scrapped. The first phase of filming begun in India in March 2010 and took place till May 2010 in Mumbai’s Film City and Goa. The crew then moved on to London in June 2010 where the filming with the entire cast took place during July–August and has been completed. In an interview, Khan stated that the remaining portions would be completed in India & would require further 6 months of post production.

Kareena Kapoor plays the female lead alongside Khan in the film whilst Arjun Rampal will be seen as the villain. Initially Khan stated that Jackie Chan was approached for a role in the film. Khan had reportedly sent Chan the detailed script of the film, along with the action sequences and a brief synopsis of his character, it was later confirmed that Chan would not be part of the project. In July 2010, Khan announced that Chinese-American actor Tom Wu would be part of the film.

Akon and Khan reportedly met in Los Angeles, USA. It was reported that besides singing one song, the singer would also form part of the cast. However, Anubhav Sinha later explained that Akon would “only be singing for our film and not acting”.

Reportedly, SRK summoned a top drawer SOS meeting at ‘Mannat’ which included director Anubhav Sinha and sound designer Resul Pookutty, among others…. and post a round of serious brain storming, a game plan has emerged.

A gaming one, rather! Highly placed close sources gleefully squealed and spilled the beans.

Reveals an insider, “The climax of ‘Ra.One’ will actually allow the audiences to play the ‘Ra.One’ in theatres even as they watch the film. This kind of interactive participation has never been done before in any part of the world! SRK feels that ‘Robot’ worked so well because it combined special effects with drama and emotions so well.”

States Pookutty in a media quote, “The challenge with ‘Ra.One’ is to create a balance between the two distinctly different worlds of gaming and movies. We’ve come up with a whole new set of strategies to make ‘Ra.One’ different from all the other super hero films.”

Besides, word has it that SRK is all set to usher in Martin Welsh, the editor of ‘Chicago’ to confer ‘Ra.One’ with his cutting edge skills.

Asserts the source, “SRK feels that more than ‘Avatar’, it was ‘Chicago’ which was closer to the pulse of a Bollywood drama. So, he’s very keen on getting in Welsh for his film, which already has a number of top foreign technicians working on it.”
