Rana, Rajinikanth’s next magnum opus goes on floor today in Chennai The shoot commences with a puja by Super Star Rajinikanth along with the cast and crew in Chennai to mark the auspicious occasion.

The shoot of Rana has to start a week days back but due to the erection of sets the shoot got delayed. As known to us Rana will be a live action magnum opus in which Rajini will be seen playing triple role while Deepika Padukone, Ileana D’Cruz, Tabu will star opposite him. Sonu Sood plays the role of a baddie and Rajini himself has selected Sonu Sood for this role.

Director Mr. K.S Ravikumar said,”Rana has a gripping story line and the entire cats and crew for Rana were perfect for the script. The film is going have stunning visuals which will surely take Indian cinema to the global standards”.

Soundarya Rajinikanth, of Ocher Visual effects UK, is working as a technical director for Rana while Charles Darby of Eyeqube Studios, well-known visual effects personality and an Emmy award winner, is the creative and special effects director on the film. Ratnavelu and Anthony are heading the departments of cinematography and Editing.

Eros International, India’s largest integrated film studio and NextGen Films are jointly producing the film through Rana Production Ltd., UK.

Rana is scheduled to release in FY 2012.

Rajinikanth’s Rana is topping the headlines every day for latest happenings. The heroines of Rajini’s three roles have been confirmed recently.

Three Bollywood divas Rekha, Deepika and Vidya Balan are playing opposite Rajini giving him company for the three roles. To bring the perfection to the role of a warrior Super Star is found busy taking training in sword fighting’s. In the flash back scenes Rajini will be performing some extra ordinary and thrilling sword fights. Rajini is putting all possible efforts to bring in attractive sword fights.

The cast and crew of Rana will be moving to London where the shooting will be commencing from the month of April.

Just when news about Endhiran is subsiding, brand Rajini is making news again: Not for his next (animated) movie Hara but for his next project with director KS Ravikumar. The news is official now that Rajini and KS Ravikumar have agreed to work on a project together which has been titled “Rana”. The USP of the movie is that Rajinikanth will be acting in three roles in the movie. The last time we saw Rajinikanth in three roles was in Moondru Mugam.

Rana will be co-produced by Eros International and Ocher studios. The multi-lingual, which will be released in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi, will have music by AR Rahman who also scored music for Rajinikanht’s last movie Endhiran. Editing will be done by Anthony and Ratnavelu, of Endhiran fame, will be the cinematographer. Art direction will be taken care by Rajeevan while The technical & special effects director will be Soundarya Rajnikanth and Charles Darby of Eyeqube Studios. The shooting is expected to commence in March this year and the film is expected to be released in 2012.

Madhuri Dixit rejects to star opposite Rajinikanth

When all heroines who matter in the country today are waiting for a call to feature as Rajinikanth’s pair in ‘Rana’, the Bollywood yester year heartthrob Madhuri Dixit has reportedly refused the offer to star as one of the Rajini’s pair in the upcoming film.

Rajinikanth plays three characters belonging to three different generations in the film. Current national sensation Deepika Padukone has already been signed to play the romantic pair to the youngest Rajini in the film.

But to play Jodi to one of the older characters Madhuri Dixit was approached and buzz is that the lady declined the offer on personal grounds. Apparently Madhuri turned down the request saying that she misses her children too much and wanted to fly back to the United States at the earliest.

Madhuri Dixit had paired with the super star before in a 1987 Bollywood film called ‘Uttar Dakshin’. For the other Rajini, the names of Trisha Krishnan and Anushka are being considered according to grapevine.

NDTV 24×7, the eminent English news channel in India presents its annual Indian of the year awards for outstanding performances of individuals in their respective fields. The award ceremony for 2010 outstanding performers took place in the National capital last night; it witnessed the South Superstar, Rajinikanth getting the award for the “best entertainer of the decade”.

The reclusive superstar, who rarely makes his appearance felt at award ceremonies, was accompanied by his wife Latha. The event witnessed the reputed channel handing out entertainer of the decade award to Rajinikanth by his fellow state politician, Union Home Minister, P Chidambaram.

One witnessed the stage suddenly turned silent after Rajini went on to the podium to collect his award. The calmness and composure of the star made Dr Prannoy Roy, to be in a dilemma whether to ask any questions or not to the star. Dr Roy asked other award winners such as Ajay Devgn, Vidya Balan, and Katrina Kaif to come on to the podium, which observed Bollywood Superstar Ajay Devgan pouring in one or the other compliment to the Superstar of South India.

The podium was filled with emotions as soon as Rajini made his presence on it, because its not often one sees a superstar being so simple, sorry simpler, sorry once again, it should be simplest.

Ajay was quoted saying that “no other star brings as much money as he does and he is not only a superstar in India but also he is the superstar of the world.” Certainly a great compliment coming to one great superstar from other. Vidya Balan, Katrina Kaif and Trisha were more than happy to share the podium space with Rajini, as they call Rajini sir. Rajini, who as usual dressed in simple attire, received a standing ovation once he went on to the podium to collect his award

We know Rajini sir is so down to earth but entire nation witnessed that he is not down to earth but in the crust and core part of the earth. Rajini sir, you are one among many superstars and you would remain as one.
