Well known that Director Shankar is directing the remake of the Hindi movie ‘3 Idiots’ in Tamil . The shooting has been started 27th January 2011 and is moving on a faster pace. The official shooting has started today in Ooty. Jeeva and Srikanth are part of this initial shots. The director, Shankar has planned to complete the scenes that has these two actors by the end of February. Surya will be joining this team by March 1st, 2011. He is playing the role of Aamir Khan, while Jeeva and Srikanth are playing the other two roles of Madhavan and Sharman Joshi. Ileana is to pair with Surya in this movie. Sathya Raj is playing the role of a professor, which was played by Bomman Irani in the original Hindi version of ‘3 Idiots’.

Actor Surya, Chennai Mayor Subramaniam and director K S Ravikumar were the special guests at the Ananda Alai, and they planted saplings as an initiative to save trees.

Surya, during his speech at the event, urged all those present to plant at least one tree at their homes.

Actor Surya along with Vivek Oberoi was spotted playing the opening match of doubles tennis on Monday (3rd January 2011) at the Aircel Chennai Open. Surya teamed with Rohan Bopanna, while Vivek teamed with Pakistani player Aisam Querishi.

The match between the duos created great curiosity, on who will be winning the match. Finally Surya lost the match with a difference of seven points. On losing the match Surya said “Vivek calls me Anna, so how can I make my brother lose the match that too in my place Chennai”.

It is known that Surya endorses Aircel in Tamilnadu the main sponsors of the tournament. Mahesh Bhupathi, Leander Paes and Somdev Devvarman also took part in the play-offs.

Nadigar Sangam President Sarath Kumar confirmed that actor Surya is selected as the Icon star of Kollywood cricket team.  Though Vijay and Vikram are consulted, both of the actors have not shown their active participation.
